We were delighted to participate in the 9th Energy Council, where our company took part in a panel dedicated to Smart Cities and Electric Mobility. During this discussion, we explored innovative solutions, with a strong focus on smart mobility, intelligent grids, and sustainable energy efficiency for the future.

In the world of cutting-edge technology, it’s fascinating to draw comparisons between various industries and their technological evolution. For example, consider modern automobiles, which now contain approximately 120 million lines of code. In contrast, the F-35 fighter jet has about 25 million lines of code in its software, the latest Boeing 787 has 10 to 15 million lines of code, and even the Space Shuttle, which served as our means of space travel for a decade, had only 400,000 lines of code. This perspective highlights how electric cars are essentially like smartphones on wheels.

For over 25 years, QSS have been facilitating and digitizing ecosystems, and the field of e-mobility has captivated us from the very beginning. We’ve always strived to stay ahead of the market, which comes with its advantages and, at times, challenges. Around 14 years ago, we embarked on the journey of smart mobility and smart cities by developing our IoT platform, which is still in use with a major telecom operator today. On this platform, we designed a smart parking system that is now operational in five cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Platform designed for Charge Point Operators (CPOs)

Last year, we began working on a platform for e-mobility and quickly identified the challenges associated with introducing such a platform. One notable gap in our market was the absence of comprehensive platforms for management, monitoring, and billing of electric vehicle charging services.

Our platform enables the provision of such services, fostering peer-to-peer interactions and transactions among market participants. To find additional details regarding ChargeNx — the platform designed for Charge Point Operators (CPOs), please explore it on Microsoft Azure Marketplace.

Smart Grids

By incorporating renewable energy sources into the electrical energy system, we introduce an element of unpredictability. Energy experts value the stability of the grid, traditionally provided by fixed energy sources. However, as renewable sources are added, maintaining this stability becomes more challenging. This is where smart grids come into play. Each element in the electrical grid now needs an IP address and protocol to make the grid intelligent. We are actively working on this aspect, connecting all energy facilities of a major company in Bosnia and Herzegovina into a single system. We use machine learning models to optimize consumption and enhance efficiency. Our commitment lies in decarbonization, and the energy from renewable sources requires meticulous management.

In conclusion, the intersection of smart mobility, smart grids, and energy efficiency is a captivating realm where innovation meets sustainability. Our journey in this field continues, driven by the desire to shape a future that’s not only smarter but also more environmentally responsible and economically efficient. Stay tuned for more updates as we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of advanced mobility and energy solutions.
